Hyde Park is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Houston. It is located in the Montrose area, and minutes from downtown Houston. Most of the original homes, which were built in the 1920s and the 1940s, are styled as ranch-style and Victorian homes. Though some of them have been torn down within the last 20 years, they have been replaced with more modern homes. Many of the remaining older houses have been restored, so the neighborhood has an interesting flavor of old and contemporary. Prices on existing homes range from the high $200,000s to upwards of $1 million; new construction prices range from around $500,000 to well upwards of $1 million as well.
