Edgemont, Boulevard Oaks - Are Houston 's Most Exclusive Subdivisions.

Edgemont is located inside the 610 Loop and is west of Rice University . The neighborhood was developed during the 1920s and 1930s and consists of bungalows and a few 1950s ranch houses. Edgemont is one the subdivision in Boulevard Oaks.

 Boulevard Oaks is one of Houston 's premier inner city neighborhoods, noted for its beauty and grace. Boulevard Oaks, located near Rice University , is approximately 4 miles southwest of downtown Houston . Its boundaries are the Southwest Freeway on the north, Morningside on the West, Bissonnet on the south, (plus the 5300 blocks of Cherokee and Mandell, and the 1700 blocks of Albans, Wroxton, and Bolsover), and Graustark/Parkway on the east. There are more than 1,200 residences, together with a smattering of commercial establishments around the borders.

 Most of Boulevard Oaks was developed in the 1920s and early 1930s. A wide variety of housing is found in the neighborhood, ranging from old mansions to modest bungalows, and even a small section of modest ranch-style homes built after the War. The advantages of Boulevard Oaks can be summed up under three headings: location, beauty, and neighborhood culture.

 Boulevard Oaks appears in the films Terms of Endearment (1983) and Rushmore (1998). Ms. Cross' temporary home in Rushmore is on North Boulevard . Mr. Blume and Ms. Cross also take a walk down North Boulevard in the film. In Terms of Endearment, Garrett Breedlove and Aurora take a walk down North Boulevard .

The National Register of Historic Places designated the Boulevard Oaks Historic District, located within Boulevard Oaks and roughly bordered by North Boulevard, South Boulevard, Hazard Street, and Mandell Street, as a history district on February 22, 2002
