Briargrove subdivision is located within just minutes from the Galleria, with easy access to downtown Houston, I-59, Loop 610, and I-10. It is bounded by Woodway to the north and Westheimer to the south.
In the 1950s, Briargrove was established with mostly one-story ranch style brick homes. Deed restrictions in the neighborhood were modified in 1986 to allow for one and one half-story and two-story homes. Afterwards some of the older ranch homes were raised and replaced with newer two story homes. There are 893 lots in Briargrove with home prices ranging from the low $300,000s to the high $700,000s for older construction and from the $800,000s up for new construction. Both plans to modify interiors and exteriors of existing homes or to build new construction must be approved by the very active Briargrove Property Owners Association which has ensured that the neighborhood's community spirit and aesthetically pleasing look have been preserved. With recent street improvements and its many amenities, Briargrove's neighborhood will continue to be one of the most desired places to live in Houston.
Briargrove's curving, tree-lined streets and neighborly atmosphere have attracted many who grew up in Briargrove to return there and raise their own families. Its close-in location offers easy access to Houston's business, retail and entertainment centers and the nearby Galleria and Uptown Park. This subdivision also has a common clubhouse, play area and pool. An elected, nine-member Board of Directors is charged with managing the operational and administrative matters of the property owners association.
Students living in Briargrove attend schools served by Houston Independent School District. The following public schools serve Briargrove; Briargrove Elementary, Grady Middle School, Lamar High School, and T. H. Rogers (serving children with special needs). Briargrove is also convenient to numerous well regarded private schools. The highly rated Briargrove Elementary School is a hub of activity with frequently scheduled carnivals, fairs, and sporting activities and is probably the biggest drawing card for this neighborhood. Enrollment stays at capacity, as residents and area businesses have rallied to support the school. |
